For the Hon Robyn McSweeney MLC
Minister for Child Protection, Community Services; Seniors and Volunteering; Women's Interests; and Youth, Australia

Personal Background

Robyn is married to Michael, has four children and divides her time between living both in Bridgetown and in Perth and her electorate office is based in Albany.

She holds a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Sociology and her main interests and passions lie in issues relating to social and family policy.

Achievements in Government

Robyn is best known for her passion in setting long-term goals for the future of Western Australia's children who come into the care system to be afforded equal opportunities in life to grow and develop.

She was elected as a member of the Legislative Council for the South West Region in 2001. Robyn also chaired the Legislative Committee on the Adequacy of Foster Care Assessment Procedures in 2005 and served two terms on the Environment and Public Affairs Committee.

Robyn's current role as Minister for Child Protection, Community Services; Seniors and Volunteering; Women's Interests; and Youth is the result of many years of representation at both the local and State level including:

  • Local Government Councillor;
  • South West Development Authority;
  • Home and Community Care Board;
  • Women's Advisory Board;
  • Juvenile Justice Board;
  • Family and Children's Services Board; and
  • Geegeelup Village Aged Care Board.
